‘Integrated forms’ 2022. installation view

The site-specific installation explored material geographies and extraction practices within the history of C-mine Arts and cultural institute (once the coal mine) Genk, Belgium. During the residency period, an excursion was carried out to investigate the identity of what’s beneath the soil post extraction era of the coal mine site. The land refill brings new soil identity, and clay that was utilised to forge work that sparks dialogue between the brutalist concrete architecture of C-mine and organic forms made of new local material.
